Corporate transport is also a data problem
In 2024, 25.9% of workers travelled to work by private car and 24.3% by taxi. Pele Transit explores what better coordination of employee transport could look like before making any claim about congestion or emissions.

The problem
Employee transport can involve many separate trips, routes, vehicles and pickup points. Without a coordinated view, it can be difficult for an employer to understand how employees are travelling and what transport capacity is being used.
What the evidence says
Stats SA's 2024 General Household Survey found that 25.9% of workers travelled to work by private car and 24.3% by taxi, while 22.8% walked. Transport accounted for 15.3% of household consumption expenditure in the 2022/23 Income and Expenditure Survey. These figures describe the wider transport environment, not the impact of Pele Transit.
The question we asked
Could employers coordinate employee shuttle services while also producing a clearer record of routes, passengers and travel activity for operational and ESG purposes?
Why we built Pele Transit
Pele Transit is a corporate shuttle platform concept focused on employee transport coordination and travel-data visibility.
What we are testing
The prototype is testing employee registration, route planning, shuttle allocation and reporting workflows. Any future carbon-credit or emissions claims would require appropriate measurement, methodology and verification.
